Where 2018's 'American English' saw Mark Charlesworth plundering American country and garage rock, forthcoming second record 'Little Victories' brings those influences back home, influenced by some of Britain's finest musicians and adding English folk into the mix.

New single 'Headlights in the Dark', with its upbeat groove-laden hook, leaps out on an album of wintry, defiant, occasionally jubilant folk-rock. Channelling Peter Gabriel's art pop and David Bowie's 'Let's Dance', 'Headlights in the Dark' is an angry song that you can dance to, with an earworm of a chorus.

The 'Headlights...' single edit is backed by three b-sides recorded from home during lockdown. 'Fictioneer' tells the tale of a crooked politician to warped acoustic guitar sounds reminiscent of Document-era R.E.M. A new single version of 'The Picture is Incomplete' has been reworked around a catchy chorus vocal inspired by The Police's 'Next To You'. At just over a minute long, meanwhile, 'January Blues' was a home experiment too pretty not to find a release.

Along with 'Speechless & Spellbound', released earlier this year, the full version of 'Headlights in the Dark' will feature on new album 'Little Victories', due for release early 2021.
